A former All-Star Cork hurler faces a drink-driving charge in his home county.
Anthony Nash, a legendary Cork goalkeeper, is alleged to have driven under the influence of alcohol on August 9, 2023, at Cloghroe, Blarney, Cork.
The former star hurler allegedly had 236 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood - exceeding the limit of 50 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. The offence is contrary to section 4 (2) (a) and 5 of the Road Traffic Act 2010.
The case has been adjourned for mention only on April 9 when a date is to be fixed for trial. The State applied for the case to be adjourned in Cork District Court on Wednesday because a witness was not available.
Mr Nash, aged 40, of 21 Barterswood, Tower, Blarney, was represented by a barrister in court.
The hurling icon played for Cork in the All-Ireland final against Clare in 2013, which Cork lost following a replay. Mr Nash was twice named an All-Star with an inter-county career lasting 15 years.
He played as goalkeeper for the Cork senior hurling team for 15 seasons before retiring in 2020. He previously played for Kanturk and Limerick South Liberties club.
