Quam Babatunde was fatally stabbed on South Anne Street, Dublin on February 15 2025

Gardaí have made a seventh arrest in relation to the fatal stabbing of an asylum seeker in Dublin city.

A man, aged in his late teens, was arrested following the fatal stabbing of Quam Babatunde on February 15.

The man was arrested this Monday morning, and is currently detained under Section 4 of Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda Station in Dublin.

Quam Babatunde was found unresponsive with serious injuries by gardaí after emergency services were called to South Anne Street/Duke Lane Upper shortly after 3am on February 15.

It is understood the incident started in a nightclub and spilled out onto the street.

Mr Babatunde was from Nigeria and was in the International Protection Accommodation Service (IPAS) system.

Investigations are ongoing.
