Cork delivery van driver who used job to scope addresses for delivery of drugs is jailed

Accused, who was fleeing death threat in his native Albania, was caught with cocaine and cannabis with a combined value of more than €54,000, court told

Charge states accused had cocaine and cannabis with a combined value of more than €54,000 for sale or supply at Glasheen Road, Cork, on August 29, 2024.

A man fleeing a death threat in Albania took advantage of his job as a delivery van driver in Cork to scope out suitable addresses for the postal delivery of consignments of drugs.

Judge Helen Boyle said: “An aggravating factor is the abuse of your job to facilitate the importation of drugs.”
