Fourth man appears in court over fatal stabbing of man outside Dublin nightclub

A fourth man has been charged following the fatal stabbing of a man in a fight outside a nightclub in Dublin earlier this month.

Sean Forde, of Bath Road in Balbriggan, appeared at Dublin District Court on Wednesday after being arrested by gardaí investigating the fatal assault.

The 23-year-old was charged with one count of violent disorder on February 15 along with two other men.

Gardaí launched an investigation into the death of Qaham Babatunde, in his 30s, who had been stabbed on Dublin’s South Anne Street in the early hours of February 15.

Detective Garda William McCarthy told Judge John Cheatle that Forde made no reply when charged and cautioned at Pearse Street station at 11.13pm on Tuesday.

Forde’s barrister, Luke O’Higgins, made an application for bail before the District Court.

Objecting to bail, Mr McCarthy cited the nature and seriousness of the allegations and strength of the prosecution evidence.

Judge Cheatle refused bail, saying the alleged assault was unprovoked and the allegations were “simply too serious”.

Forde is the fourth person to be charged in connection to the death.

The accused was remanded in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court on March 5.
