Gardaí went to St Mary’s church on Pope’s Quay in Cork City to investigate a disturbance when churchgoers were being hassled at the door and they encountered one man who threatened to rape the guard’s wife and his mother.

30-year-old Martin Weller of no fixed address pleaded guilty to charges of being drunk and a danger and engaging in threatening behaviour on the afternoon of September 21, 2024, at St. Mary’s, Pope’s Quay, Cork.
