Cork District Court heard the total value of the drug seizure was €3,360.
Gasworks Lane was the location for a drugs search of a man acting suspiciously and gardaí located over €3,000 worth of cocaine.
That search was made back in May 2022. However, as recently as January 7 this year, the same man came to adverse attention when he was obstructive to a member of An Garda Síochána.
Now at Cork District Court, Christopher Duggan, aged 26, of no fixed address, has been sentenced to eight months in prison.
That was the overall sentence Judge Mary Dorgan imposed on the young man for various offences dating from May 2022 to this month. Christopher Duggan pleaded guilty to several charges arising of the offences.
Duggan admitted possession of cocaine and having the drugs for sale or supply at Gasworks Lane, near the South Infirmary. He also pleaded guilty to the additional count of possession of a knife.

On October 1, 2023, he was caught shoplifting at South Link Service station. And on the same day he stole almost €700 worth of clothing from Lifestyle on St Patrick’s St.
On September 16, 2024, he was back at the same store where he stole almost €400 worth of property.
On January 7 last at Dominic St, Cork, he was obstructive to Garda Elaine Murphy.
Sgt Kelleher said Duggan had over 40 previous convictions, including four for theft, two for having drugs for his own use, and ten for being so intoxicated that he was a danger to himself or others.
Solicitor Eddie Burke said the 26-year-old was originally from Mahon and left school at age of 18, going on to have a good work record even though he was sometimes homeless.
“He has not worked in 12 months. Drug addiction took over. At the conclusion of his sentence he is hoping to go into treatment,” Mr Burke said.
