Judge accepts darts is very important on Cork's northside but says assaulting a player 'was nasty'

Accused admitted assaulting another man on June 22, 2023, at Jack Forde’s The Shandon Arms, Eason’s Hill, Cork, and assaulting the same man, who is aged about 50, causing him harm on a second occasion on the same date.

A District Court judge accepted darts was very important on the northside of Cork City, but told a 66-year-old man assaulting another player in a pub was totally inappropriate.

Judge Mary Dorgan made that comment to Denis O’Donovan of 1 John Redmond Street, Cork, who pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting the same man on a night.
