Woman killed when car collided with bus near Belfast named locally

Claudia Jaczyk, 23, from the Newtownabbey area, who died in a crash between a bus and a car on the Ballyrobin Road, Templepatrick, at around 8am on Saturday. 

A woman has died and a man has been seriously injured in a collision involving a car and a bus in Co Antrim.

The crash took place in the Ballyrobin Road, Templepatrick, at around 8am on Saturday.

She has been named as Claudia Jaczyk, 23, from the Newtownabbey area.

Detective Inspector Stewart from the Collision Investigation Unit said the woman was driving the car, a black Citroen C1.

The driver of the bus has serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Diversions were put in place but they have since been lifted and the road has reopened.

“Officers attended alongside emergency services partners, however, the driver of the Citroen was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene,” the detective said.

“The driver of the bus, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries which are not believed to be life threatening."

“Our inquiries are continuing, and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have digital footage which could assist with our investigation, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 341 14/02/26.”
