Gardaí deployed a stinger device to halt a stolen car during an operation in Co Wicklow on Saturday morning.
Gardaí say they responded to a report of a theft from a vehicle in the Baltinglass area yesterday morning.
After the car was located shortly before 6am, it failed to stop for gardaí when directed to do so.
Thereafter, gardaí implemented a "managed containment operation", during which a stinger device was deployed on the N81 at Burgage Moyle.
The car was then brought to a halt.
Gardaí say it was then discovered that the vehicle had been the subject of "an unauthorised taking".
The car was seized along with a number of items suspected of being stolen.
Two males - one juvenile in his teens, the other an adult in his late teens - were arrested at the scene. They were detained for a time under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in Co. Wicklow.
The have since been charged and are expected to appear before a special sitting of Waterford District Court on Sunday, December 15 approximately 1pm.
A garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
