A 33-year-old man who stole a pair of wellington boots in TK Maxx at the height of the summer made his detection a little easier for gardaí when he turned up elsewhere to carry out more shoplifting a few days later — wearing the wellies.

These two crimes and a third incident of shoplifting where he stole a pair of sliders from a sports shop have now resulted in a total jail term of five months being imposed on him.
