Two arrested after gardaí seize heroin worth €35,700 in Galway

A man and a woman have been arrested after gardaí seized heroin worth €35,700 in Co Galway.

More than 252g of the drug was found after a car was stopped and searched at Cappataggle at around 11pm on Wednesday.

A man and a woman, both aged in their 50s, were subsequently arrested.

They are currently being held at a Garda station in Co Galway under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

They can be held for up to seven days.
