Gardaí were repeatedly called "bastards" by a 32-year-old man at the height of a disturbance on Washington Street in Cork.

Sergeant Dave Delea said that during the incident, Richard Barry of Cork Simon Community was actively begging and obstructing the free passage of pedestrians. Garda Barry O’Shea approached him and arrested him for this offence.
