At Cork District Court, the man pleaded guilty to being in possession of a knife, causing criminal damage, and being intoxicated to such an extent that he was a danger to himself or others.

A 44-year-old man who sustained a broken cheekbone in the course of an assault took the law into his own hands and smashed up the assailant’s car.

Now Derek Lynch has been jailed for this attack on the car as Judge Treasa Kelly told him he should have let the gardaí deal with the matter.
