Two teenagers accused of raping girl in 'isolated' area near Cork city centre given bail

Det Garda Niall Comerford objected to bail being granted at Cork District Court to the two accused on grounds that included the seriousness of the charges.

Two teenaged boys were arrested and charged with raping a 15-year-old girl in Cork city and garda objections were made to either of the accused being released on bail.

Detective Garda Niall Comerford said that on leaving a fast-food restaurant in the city, the intoxicated girl became separated from her group of friends, at which stage she was approached by one of the accused who “prompted her to follow him to an isolated area”.
