Man, 40s, arrested in €10m counterfeit mobile phone probe
Members of the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (GNBCI) arrested the man, who is aged in his 40s, on Wednesday.
A man has been arrested as part of a garda investigation targeting the sale of counterfeit mobiles.
Members of the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (GNBCI) arrested the man, who is aged in his 40s, on Wednesday.
This investigation is being conducted by the Intellectual Property Crime Investigation Unit based in the GNBCI.
Gardaí believe the phone company involved has been defrauded to the tune of €10m.
Fourteen bank accounts have been frozen and €143,245 in cash has been seized as part of the investigation.
The arrested man is currently detained under the provisions of Section 50 Criminal Justice Act 2007, at a Garda Station in Dublin.
