Blarney woman accused of selling heroin charged with further drug-related offence
Amy Forrest was already charged with possession of Diamorphine (heroin) and having that drug for the purpose of selling or otherwise supplying to others at Redforge Road, Blackpool, Cork, on August 24, 2023.
A 35-year-old Blarney woman charged with possession of heroin for sale or supply was charged on Wednesday with a new drug-related offence arising out of the same alleged incident.
Detective Sergeant Ruairi McGovern formally arrested Amy Forrest, of Causeway House, Station Road, Blarney, County Cork, and charged her before the sitting of Cork District Court.
The detective later testified that she made no reply to the charge against her.
Amy Forrest was already charged with possession of Diamorphine (heroin) and having that drug for the purpose of selling or otherwise supplying to others at Redforge Road, Blackpool, Cork, on August 24, 2023.
The new charge alleges that she “did possess articles, namely a mixing agent consisting of a paracetamol and caffeine mixture in circumstances giving rise to a reasonable inference that the article was in your possession for a purpose connected with the commission, preparation, facilitation or instigation of a drug trafficking offence.”
Det Garda McGovern said the Director of Public Prosecutions directed that the case should proceed by indictment, either to trial by judge and jury or for a signed plea of guilty followed by sentencing at Cork Circuit Criminal Court.
Defence solicitor Joseph Cuddigan said he required time to advise the accused on matters relating to a signed plea of guilty should that arise.
On the application of Sergeant Dave Delea, Judge Mary Dorgan adjourned the case until October 2.
There was no garda objection to the accused being remanded on bail until that date.
