Pregnant woman violently assaulted in early morning 'drink-fuelled' attack

Victim sustained extensive facial injuries with swelling to both eyes and cheeks, displacement of the nose and lacerations to her arms and hands

 James O’Reilly, aged 24, of 32 Ballinure Avenue, Mahon, Cork, was jailed for two and a half years.

A pregnant woman was violently assaulted by her ex-partner who entered the bedroom of her home before eight o’clock in the morning.

Detective Sergeant Kieran O’Sullivan said at Cork Circuit Criminal Court that the victim sustained extensive facial injuries with swelling to both eyes and cheeks.
