The Director of Public Prosecutions decided the case against a former bank cashier accused of seven counts of theft where she worked 13 years ago could only be dealt with at district court level if there was a plea of guilty to all charges.

Sergeant Aisling Murphy said otherwise the case would have to proceed by indictment to trial by judge and jury at Cork Circuit Criminal Court.
