Threats were made to shop assistants by a man who said he would return with a shotgun if they reported to gardaí the assault he carried out on another man.

Now at Cork Circuit Criminal Court, Jack McCarthy, of 109 Ard Bhaile, Mayfield, Cork, has been given a three-and-a-half-year jail sentence, with the last year suspended.
