Man arrested after woman assaulted in Dublin 

The woman, aged in her 40s, is understood to be in a stable condition

A man has been arrested after a woman was assaulted in Dublin on Friday evening. 

Gardaí in Blanchardstown are investigating the serious incident that happened in the Waterville area shortly before 9pm. 

The woman, aged in her 40s, received on-site treatment from emergency services personnel. She was then transported by ambulance to Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown. 

A Garda spokesperson said her condition is understood to be stable. 

A technical examination of the scene has since been carried out. 

A man in his 30s has been arrested as part of this investigation. 

He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. 

The spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
