Man arrested after 159,000 cigarettes seized at Dublin business premises

More than 159,000 cigarettes were seized by Revenue officers at a business premises in South Dublin last Friday, as part of an intelligence-led operation.
The smuggled cigarettes, branded 'Dunhill' and 'Karelia', have an estimated value of around €133,600, representing a potential loss of over €105,000 to the Exchequer.
A man, aged in his 30s, has been arrested in connection with the seizure.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Revenue said: "The seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes and tobacco in the shadow economy.
"If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295."
