Sixth man charged in connection with fatal assault at Kerry cemetery

A sixth person has been charged with the murder of a father of seven in Tralee's main graveyard in October 2022.
The 42-year-old man appeared before a sitting of the District Court in Listowel, Co Kerry, on Thursday, charged with the murder of Thomas Dooley in October, 2022.
Daniel Dooley, 42, of 15 An CarraigĂn, Connolly Park, Tralee, Co Kerry, is charged that he did murder Thomas Dooley at Rath Cemetery, Rathass, Tralee on October 5, 2022.Â
Detective Garda John Gilmartin told the court he arrested Daniel Dooley in Wilton in Cork at 7am on Thursday morning.
He said Daniel Dooley replied: "I shouldn't be here; I'm an innocent man," when the charge was put to him.
Defence solicitor Patrick Mann said Daniel Dooley was a widower, a father of three, who was on disability.
Mr Mann said he would be making an application in the High Court for bail. The solicitor also requested any necessary medical treatment be given to his client.
Judge Philip O’Leary granted the application for legal aid and also ordered any necessary medical treatment be provided.
Daniel Dooley was remanded in custody to appear again via via video link in Tralee District Court next Wednesday.
Daniel Dooley is the sixth person to be charged with the murder of Thomas Dooley in the graveyard in Tralee.
The deceased, father of seven Thomas Dooley aged 43 , from Hazlewood Drive, Killarney, and his wife Siobhán were attacked when they were attending the funeral of a friend at Rath Cemetery, Tralee’s main graveyard at the entrance to the town, in Tralee on October 5, 2022.Â
Siobhán Dooley was seriously injured. Thomas Dooley died at the scene.
