A man has appeared in court after being charged with stealing almost €2,000 from a church in Co Donegal while a funeral was taking place.

Ireneusz Matras appeared at Letterkenny District Court and is charged that on April 14, 2024, at St Eunan's Cathedral, Letterkenny, he did steal property, to wit €1,754.55 and stg£6.13, the property of parish priest Monsignor Kevin Gillespie.
