A man charged with the murder of Michael Foley in Macroom will return before court on March 19 after a further remand in custody.

Daniel Hourigan, with an address at Cork Simon, appeared via video link from Cork Prison before Clonakilty District Court on Tuesday.

Mr Hourigan, 31, had first appeared in court last Friday charged with the murder of 61-year-old Michael Foley, whose body had been found at his home at Annville, Barrett’s Place in Macroom on February 6.

Judge James McNulty heard there was no application for bail and solicitor Conrad Murphy, acting as agent for Eddie Burke, solicitor for Mr Hourigan, said there was consent to continuing remand in custody.

Mr Hourigan will next appear before the court, again via video link, on March 19.
