A judge has warned that lack of access to timely and affordable legal assistance is contributing to domestic violence as couples fight about access to children without necessary supports.

The majority of family law cases before the courts now involve issues around access to children, with flashpoints for conflict at pick-up and drop-off points, Judge Colm Roberts told Fermoy District Court.
