Farmer left severely brain-damaged after van rear-ended settles case for €8.5m

As a result of the accident, complainant had been turned from an able-bodied man to a person who suffered severe brain damage, who cannot work and who will require care for the rest of his life, court told.

A driver who suffered severe brain damage after his van was rear-ended as he indicated to turn for home and his vehicle was pushed into the path of another car has settled a High Court action for €8.5m.

Kevin Moylan, a 48-year-old blocklayer and farmer was at a junction on the Galway to Headford Road and had indicated to turn right and was waiting for another car to pass on the opposite carriageway when the accident happened on March 27, 2018.
