A particularly mean assault by a woman who spat in the face of a supermarket security man resulted in her being jailed for five months.

Judge Olann Kelleher said the maximum possible sentence for this category of assault at district court level under Section 2 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act was six months.
