Girl who sued Cork hospital over circumstances of her birth gets interim €1m settlement

Liability has been admitted in the case but there are still issues in relation to causation

An eight-year-old girl who sued over the circumstances of her birth at Cork University Maternity Hospital has settled her High Court action with an interim payment of over €1million.

Mr Justice Tony O’Connor approving the interim payment for the next five years praised the resilience of the young girl and said she had his real admiration. She cannot be named by order of the court.
