Tipperary man granted leave to appeal refusal of widower's pension to Supreme Court

Granting a leapfrog appeal, a three-judge Supreme Court panel said John O'Meara, and his three children's challenge against the refusal of the minister for social protection to grant him the pension raises points of general public importance in the area of social welfare law.

The long-term partner of a woman who died from covid is to have his legal fight for entitlement to the widower's pension heard by the Supreme Court 

The highest court has agreed to hear an appeal against a decision of the High Court that the Tipperary man is not entitled to the pension.
