Care worker accused of stealing from post offices to fund US trip to see fiancée 

Accused told gardaí that he had already sent €19k to the States, €3k of which was taken in the robberies

A HSE homecare assistant has been charged in connection with two separate post office robberies and one attempted robbery in Cork over the last 10 days.

Gardaí objected to bail in the case on the grounds that the man allegedly committed the offences in order to fund a trip to the States to see his fiancée whom he had met online.
