West Cork farmer jailed for dangerous driving causing death of 80-year-old man 

Accused also pleaded guilty to drink driving and knowingly or recklessly having a defective vehicle at the time of the incident on November 8, 2020

An Inchigeelagh farmer “who was very drunk behind the wheel of his car” was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison for dangerous driving causing the death of an 80-year-old man in this part of West Cork.

Judge Helen Boyle imposed a sentence of four years and nine months with one year suspended on Dan Coakley, of Derryleigh, Inchigeelagh, Co Cork.
