A prisoner who threatened a prison officer in Cork Prison with the words: “With one phonecall, you will be done” was today he was sentenced to an extra 10 months in jail for making the threat.

Gavin Ryan (aged 30) with an address at Mount Suir apartments, Gracedieu, Co Waterford, pleaded guilty yesterday charges of assaulting the chief prison officer Tom Curtis on January 28 at Cork Prison on Rathmore Rd, and a second charge that he made a threat to the officer, intending him to believe it would be carried out, to kill him or cause him serious harm.
