CUMH apologises as boy, 8, gets €22.5m for 'devastating' meningitis infection

An eight-year-old boy who suffered brain damage after contracting a meningitis infection in the days after his birth in a Cork hospital has settled his High Court action for €22.5m.
Cork University Maternity Hospital today apologised “unreservedly“ in court to Calum Spillane and his family “for the delay in diagnosing Calum’s infection and the injuries he suffered.”
