Homecare services for families across Cork which had been scheduled for bank holiday Monday, were cancelled at short notice before being restored, only after relatives contacted the Irish Examiner.

It comes as more than 100 older people across Cork and Kerry have been waiting over a year for homecare. Tipperary and Waterford are among other counties facing similar pressures, while unions say the jobs do not offer a living wage.
