Man dies following collision between two motorcycles and a jeep in Co Louth

A man, aged in his 50s, has been killed following a collision involving two motorcycles and a jeep in Louth on Sunday. 

The collision took place on the N52 at Dunmahon shortly before 12.30pm. 

A motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body has been removed to the local mortuary. 

An autopsy will take place in due course, and the coroner has been notified. 

The second driver of a motorcycle, a man aged in his 40s, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda for treatment of serious injuries. 

The driver of the jeep was also taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life threatening at the time. 

The road remains closed this evening for technical examination by garda forensic collision investigators and local diversions are in place. 

Gardaí are now appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, travelling in the area of the N52 near Dunmahon, Louth between 12.15pm and 12.45pm on Sunday, are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
