Man, 30s, seriously injured after being hit by car in Mayo

Gardaí and emergency services arrived at the scene at around 3.30am.

A man in his 30s has suffered serious injuries after an overnight collision in Mayo.

The man was hit by a car in the early hours of Sunday morning on the Moneen Road in Castlebar.

Gardaí and emergency services arrived at the scene at around 3.30am.

 He was transferred from the incident to Mayo University Hospital and remains in a serious condition.

No other people were injured.

The road remains closed and the scene will be examined by garda forensics on Sunday morning.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

They are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision to make this footage available to Gardaí.
