A woman in her 80s has died after a single-vehicle collision in Co Dublin.

The incident occurred at around 10:55am on Sunday in a car park on Idrone Avenue, Knocklyon.

The woman was a passenger in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, a man aged in his 80s, was taken to Tallaght Hospital to be treated for injuries believed to be non-life threatening.

The scene was cordoned off for technical examination by forensic collision investigators but that has since been lifted.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
