Dublin's Abbey Street is currently closed as gardaí and emergency services attend a serious road collision.

The incident occurred at the junction of Abbey Street and O'Connell Street on Wednesday afternoon.

"Abbey Street remains closed and road users are asked to avoid the area due to delays," a garda spokesperson said.

The Red Line Luas is currently suspended between Smithfield and Connolly/The Point.

A spokesperson for Luas operator Transdev said it was due to a non-Luas-related incident.

"Services are operating between Tallaght/Saggart and Smithfield only," Transdev said.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

"Luas tickets are valid on Dublin Bus for the duration of this disruption," the spokesperson added.
