Man arrested over sexual assault of young girl and suspicious approaches to two others

Gardaí are questioning a man in his 20s about the sexual assault of a young girl and suspicious approaches to other children in north Dublin.

Gardaí have been investigating since the alleged incidents occurred on February 15.

It is understood detectives spoke to a number of children in the area and a local school was also visited as part of the investigation.

On Tuesday morning a man in his 20s was arrested in Santry after a search of a property by members of the the Divisional Protective Services Unit and local gardaí and detectives.

He is currently being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act  at a Garda station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.

Investigations are ongoing.
