Pedestrian, 40s, dies after being hit by a car in Co Kildare

A pedestrian, aged in his 40s, has died after being hit by a car in Co Kildare, bringing the total of people who have died on Irish roads so far this year to 190.
Gardaí and emergency services are currently in attendance at the scene of the fatal collision on the R445 in Co Kildare this evening.
The collision involved a car and a pedestrian and occurred at approximately 6pm on the R445 Monasterevin Road, leaving Kildare Town in the direction of Monasterevin.
The pedestrian, a man aged in his 40s, has been pronounced dead and his body remains at the scene.
No other injuries have been reported.
"The road is currently closed between Monastervin and Kildare Town with local diversions in place. A technical examination will be conducted by Forensic Collision Investigators," said a Garda spokesperson.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Any road users, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 5:00pm and 6:30pm this evening are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
