Infant boy injured in Dundalk crash dies in hospital

The young boy seriously injured in a crash in Co Louth over the weekend has died in hospital. 

At around 8.10pm on Saturday, emergency services responded to a two-car crash on the R132 at Dowdallshill in Dundalk.

The infant boy, a passenger in one of the cars was seriously injured and brought to Children's Health Ireland (CHI) Temple Street in a critical condition.

On Thursday evening, gardaí confirmed the boy had died in hospital. 

Three other people were injured in the crash. 

The driver of the car the boy had been travelling in, a woman aged in her late 20s, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, with non-life-threatening injuries.

The male driver of the second vehicle and a female passenger, a teenager, were also taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision.

Any road users with camera footage who were travelling on the R132 in the Dowdallshill area between 7.50pm and 8.20pm last Saturday, December 6, have been asked to make it available.
