Crystal meth and cannabis seizures worth €2m made at Dublin Airport

Some €2m worth of drugs were found in two separate operations at Dublin Airport late last week.

On Thursday, November 20, officers found a package carrying 800g of crystal meth. The drugs, valued at about €48,000, were hidden in boxes of soup and labelled as “food.”

The package, destined for an address in Dublin, originated in Spain.

In a separate operation on Sunday, detector dog Maggie helped locate 112.95kg of cannabis. The drugs were wrapped in vacuum-packed packages and hidden in metal boxes labelled “electric box.”

The cannabis, valued at about €2,259,000, originated in Thailand and was bound for an address in Northern Ireland.

“Investigations are ongoing,” a Revenue spokesperson said.

This seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs. Anyone with information about smuggling can contact Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295.
