Man, 60s, dies in incident at Tayto Snacks Ltd factory in Meath

A spokesperson for the HSA told the Irish Examiner it is aware of the fatal incident and has launched an investigation into the matter.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has launched an investigation after a contractor died in an incident at the Tayto Snacks Ltd factory in Ashbourne, Co Meath, on Tuesday morning.

Tayto Snacks Ltd said the deceased, a man in his 60s, was an employee of an independent potato supplier.

Gardaí and emergency services personnel were called to the scene of the incident, and the company said it is currently "assisting with their enquiries".

"We will also be working closely with all parties, including the Health and Safety Authority," a Tayto Snacks Ltd spokesperson said.

"The safety and wellbeing of all who attend on our site is our highest priority, and we are committed to supporting any investigations into today’s tragic incident."

The company said that the deceased's next-of-kin has been informed.

Tayto Snacks Ltd managing director John O’Connor said the firm was "devastated by today’s incident, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, and colleagues impacted by this tragic loss of life".

"Tayto Snacks Ltd will not be issuing any further comments while investigations are ongoing," he said.

A spokesperson for the HSA told the Irish Examiner it is aware of the fatal incident and has launched an investigation into the matter.

"As such, no further information is currently available," the spokesperson said.
