Two injured, one critically, following Sligo crash

Two people have been injured, one critically, following a two-car collision in Co Sligo.

The crash occurred at Kileenduff in Easkey at around 10.15pm on Sunday.

Both drivers, a man and a woman, both in their 40s, have been taken to Sligo University Hospital. The woman is in critical condition, while the man is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The road is currently closed for a technical examination by forensic collision investigators, and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R297 at Kileenduff, Easkey, between 9.45pm and 10.30pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.

"Anyone with any information should contact Ballymote Garda Station on 071 918 9500, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."

Investigations are ongoing, the statement said.
