Man, 20s, dies following assault in Kildare 

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the incident in Kildare town on McGee Terrace at around 3.15am.

A man in his 20s has died following an assault which happened in Kildare in the early hours of Sunday morning. 

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the incident in Kildare town on McGee Terrace at around 3.15am. He was found unresponsive at the scene. 

In an update on Thursday night, gardaí said he has since passed away in hospital. 

The coroner has since been notified. An autopsy is due to take place in due course, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal to anyone with information in relation to this incident.

Any road users who were in the area between 2.00am and 4.00am and who may have video footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
