Woman, 80s, dies following two-car collision in Co Cavan

A woman, aged in her 80s, has died following a two-car collision in Co Cavan on Tuesday.
The incident occurred near Crosskeys on a local road in Carrickatober at around 3.30pm
One of the drivers, a woman in her 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has been removed to the morgue at Cavan General Hospital where an autopsy will be carried out.
The other driver, a woman in her 40s, was taken to the same hospital for assessment.
The road was closed to allow Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct an examination of the scene.
This has since been completed and the road has now reopened. Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.
In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dashcam) and were travelling in the area between 3pm and 3.30pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cavan Garda Station on 049 4368800, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111, or any garda station."
