Crisis cafés reduce emergency department pressure in mental health cases, study finds

A report found people, staff and organisations affected by suicide agree that emergency departments are 'dehumanising and retraumatising' for individuals in a suicide crisis.

Community “crisis cafes” provide “essential support” to people having mental health crises, according to new research.

People who have used these cafes, along with their carers, said they provided a “safe, supportive environment” and reduced dependence on hospital emergency departments.
