Man, 40s, dies in crash involving two vans and crane in Co Offaly

A man has died and another man has been injured in a crash involving two vans and a crane in Co Offaly.
Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) are investigating the collision, which happened on the R401 at Drumcooly near Edenderry at approximately 6.15am on Wednesday.
The driver of one of the vans, a man in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the other van, a man in his 30s, has been brought to Midland Regional Hospital at Tullamore for treatment. His injuries are understood to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The road where the accident took place has been closed to traffic pending examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions have been put in place.
Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses to the crash.
Any road users with footage who were travelling in the area between 6am and 6.30am on Wednesday morning have been asked to make this footage available.

A spokesperson for the HSA said it is aware of the fatal incident and has launched an investigation.
"As such, no further information is available at this time," the spokesperson said.
