Late-summer heatwave brings sunshine and storms as 160,000 head to Oasis gigs

Ireland will enjoy late-summer sunshine this weekend, delighting the 160,000 people heading to Croke Park for the Oasis concerts.
Temperatures reached 27C in parts this week as high pressure dominated Irish airspace, and it shows no sign of easing.
Friday started with sunny spells nationwide, and Met Éireann's latest forecast predicts they will continue for the rest of the day, with highs of 26C.
Tonight will be dry with clear spells, and a few patches of mist or fog may develop overnight. Lowest temperatures will range from 10 to 14C.
Saturday morning will be dry with sunny spells, but during the afternoon and evening some showers will affect Munster and parts of Connacht.
Met Éireann forecasts these showers will be heavy and potentially thundery, but they will not clear the air, with temperatures still peaking at 27C.
The outlook for Saturday evening indicates a mild, humid night with one or two showers. Temperatures will not drop below 14 to 17C.
It's a similar story on Sunday morning as
Scattered showers will move in from the southwest around noon, mainly affecting Munster and Connacht through the afternoon and evening. Some showers could be heavy or thundery.
The rest of the island will be warm, with highs of 19 to 25C.
On Sunday night, showers will ease and it will become mainly dry. Another very mild, humid night is expected, with lows of 14 to 17C.
