Woman, 70s, dies following collision in Donegal

The road is currently closed pending an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators, and local diversions are in place.

A woman has died following a collision between a car and a van in Co Donegal on Friday. 

The crash occurred on the R245 at Bunlin Bridge in Milford at around 7:30pm this evening. 

The woman, aged in her 70s, who was driving the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Her body has been taken to Letterkenny University Hospital, where an autopsy will be carried out. 

The driver of the van, a man aged in his 50s, was also taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. No other injuries have been reported. 

The road is currently closed, pending an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators, and local diversions are in place. 

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident. 

A Garda spokesperson said: "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 7.15pm and 7.45pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí. 

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Milford Garda Station on (074) 9153060, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
